Newsletter 1 - Orthopaedics Practice Marketing Success Story
I have known Dr Michael J. Axe, M.D. who is a founding partner of First State Orthopaedics for over 12 years. He has been and continues to be a DE Today, Top Doc since 1998. Dr. Axe has been honored with two awards from the AOSSM, 2019 Brady Award and in 2012 Mr. Sports Medicine. He is a professor at University of Delaware Physician Therapy Program and has published 85 peer review publications.
My initial engagement was one of a representative selling orthopaedic products. What impressed me most was how knowledgeable he is. Dr. Axe has a commanding presence that can be somewhat intimidating to anyone weak of heart. He knows his craft inside and out because he has studied it and continues to learn and shares his knowledge freely with others. I remember when I was an orthopaedic representative, he spoke for my company at one of our National Sales meetings on the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee. He is a professor with the physical therapy program students at the University of Delaware, which happens to be one of the top PT programs in the country. He is truly an educator.
There is one thing that stands out about him, he is the biggest cheerleader for his practice and state. He values education and helping the youth of Delaware. You can find him commentating on the radio or see him standing on the sidelines of the University of Delaware football team or in the stadium at a University of Delaware basketball game. He has been the team doctor for Goldey Beacom, Wilmington University, Christiana School District and New Castle VoTech District to name a few. He co-hosts the Youth in Sports on channel 28. Whatever the sport he has probably been a part of it.
When I started Peak Medical Marketing in April 2019, one of the first practices I reached out to was First State Orthopaedics. They were interested in hearing what I had to say. That is when I found out that Dr. Axe had taken on a more active role in assisting in the marketing of the practice with Jackie Stonebraker, Administrator of the Executive Director. He still is practicing, but has cut back on hours which has freed up his time to be part of the physician based marketing team. We had offered them a physician liaison to go out and market the practice to primary care physicians, sharing new procedures, office locations, new physicians and any other important information or milestones of the practice.
My original contract with them was for 3 months and now, over a year and a half later Peak Medical Marketing still is marketing their practice to their referral base and our role has increased into managing the social media, website and advertising.
